Paris Pumpkin

Le(la) BOO!
I don't know what gender 'Boo' is but certainement you'll see signs of Halloween in many classy joints around town...
La Petite Marquise (3 Pl. Victor Hugo 75016) had several tres chic witches dans le vitrine in full regalia...

Sweet Paris said I must taste her fav, la feuille d'automne so I did...

Trop de creme pour moi malheureusement/way too much cream for me. I discovered the secret of tarte citron meringuee. Often it's just a tarte citron with a dollop of toasted meringue adorning the curd. Who knew?

Do stop by Sweet Paris if you want to see what pricy Halloween shenanigans Patrick Roger is up to.

Is it only the French who can get away with putting a knitted pumpkin plus a knitted aubergine into a window on rue St.-Honore to display fancy watches? Knitting is very in. This ain't happening on Madison Ave., NYC...

Not pumpkin-flavored macarons but pumpkin-colored at Angelina. Pumpkin is the color in my humble opinion in Paris.

Fancy kids store, Bonpoint is showing pumpkin hats and scarves.

Are you missing a pumpkin Eiffel tower in your collection? Dash over to rue Cambon immediatement!

Why not deck yourself out in pumpkin head-to-toe like this French girl...

I was interested to catch this class act dans le Metro - an art student off to class with her supplies in a Hediard bag. Pas mal non?

I'm off to watercolor class today at the National Academy with David Dewey. We're supposed to paint from the nude...ahem. But I'm bringing in my own subject matter - nice, colorful geometric macaron boxes and bags to paint (plus real macarons for contrast).

Bon(ne) Halloween PBers!

What's red, black and.. black?

Me, apparently, with my mini-haul that I got the other day. I wanted to check out the new MAC collections (Fabulous Felines), and my friend needed some hair dye, so off we went to town! And this is what I got!

China Glaze Nail Polish in Agent Orange
MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner in On The Hunt (Black)
MAC Lipstick in Lady Bug (Lustre)

I bought these separately, sort of. I had a free Back to MAC lying about, and wanting a new kind of red lipstick, as my Russian Red was running low, and wanted a slightly more glossy red, a lighter more "day" red lipstick.

This nail varnish is gorgeous, but super awkward to photograph. It's called Agent Orange, but I wouldn't really call it orange, even though it looks it in this picture! It's a reddish-orange, with pink undertones, in some light. I genuinely don't have anything like it, and think it's a really unique colour! It's super pretty, and I've worn it every day since, I love it so much! It looks boring in the bottle, and I thought I might regret it (I'm trying to buy more "traditional" colours!) but I definitely don't, which is good news. (:

And then I got them home and tried them both on, and realised just how perfect they look together! They're very pretty, I'm also wearing the new eyeliner - it has a weird wet-look effect, which I like on its own, but not when paired with eyeshadow, I found out today, haha.

And if you're wondering what awesome new scarf that is..

That would be this bad boy, £6.99 from H&M and I absolutely adore it! H&M scarves always sucker me in, and I buy a few every Autumn/Winter, cause I love them so much. There's another two I want to go back and get.. You can't really tell in the picture but the orangey bits are a super bright orange, and they're lovely and I love it and there is lots of love.

Thought this was a cute little post to do! Anyway, today I'm off to the gym and to see my friend for lunch!

FOTD, Face Of The Day! 13/04/2010

This afternoon I was raiding beauty blogs for some inspiration, and all I got was the idea of using orange on my lid. I feel like I've got very much into a rut with my makeup so this was a bit of a change. The colours were dulled down a bit more than I'd like (and the photo washed them out a bit) cause I had to wear this to work.. but anyway, it got me in a spring mood!
Oh, and please don't mention my eyebrows! I need to re-do them, one of the blessings of having a long fringe becomes a curse when you have to pull it back for work!

Oranges!

It has been insanely hot over here, recently! I went for a picnic and walk with my friends the other day, and it was the hottest day of the year so far (now beaten by yesterday!), and my face felt like it was melting, haha. As much as I love the sunshine and the heat - it's been a little bit too hot for a full face of makeup, recently. However, it has been good for one thing - a tan! I'm actually getting quite brown, which is lovely. As long as you're careful about using SPF, I don't see much problem with I don't know weather its the sunshine or the heat but I'm really into these bronzes and oranges, recently.
I dropped by MAC recently, to check out the Style Warriors collection - and whilst I wasn't that impressed with the collection in general (the packaging completely put me off!), I did spot this little gem; MAC's Loose Iridescent Powder in Golden Bronze. At £15.17, it's a good buy, as a pot will last you ages, if you're hygenic, because it's such a highly pigmented powder. As you'll be able to see from the following swatch, one little swipe gives off a high payoff - so I recommend using a big brush
with a little bit of product, and blending it a lot!
"Golden Bronze" - MAC

I recently invested in Off The Radar pigment, too, which is a beautiful, rich colour. A burnt orange with gold sparkles, I'm loving this brushed across the lid with a flick of a eyeliner. Unforunately, this was Limited Edition, so it's going to be hard to find. However, it's like a better pigmented version of one side of Nars Mediterranée eyeshadow. It's a very pretty colour, if you can get your hands on it.
"Off The Radar" - MAC

For a more glittery bronzed look, there are loads of Mineralize Skinfinishes' out there by MAC with bronze finishes. One of my favourites is Warmed, which was released with the N Collection (and possibly repromoted?). A very pretty, warm bronze, with gold highlights.

If you want a more subtle cheek-colour, try out Luster blush by Nars, a very pretty, bronze-peach, which looks beautiful on the cheekbones. If bright orange isn't really your thing, you could try something like Galapagos eyeshadow, also by Nars. Similar to their 'Night' eyeshadows - full of specks of glitter - it looks pretty swept across the lid, close to the lashes.
"Luster" and "Galapagos"

Something else I've been favouring recently (especially for work - or popping out to see
a friend), is a really simply wash of colour all over the lid, with either just mascara, or a plain flick of eyeliner. My favourite colour for this look is "Evening Aura" - but that was Limited Edition with Neo Sci-Fi, so a good alternative is a beautiful bronze-gold from Urban Decay - "Half Baked".

I'm not really a fan of lip-colour, especially when it's hot (with lots of drinking, it just wears off anyway). If anything, I'd get a long-lasting lipstick or a sticky lipgloss that'll stay. One of my favourite is Stila's lipglaze in "Apricot". It's a perfect shade of glossy fleshtone-pink, and whilst yes, it is horrendous sticky, its a very pretty colour, enough to give a bit of colour without overpowering. The same goes for "Pleasureseeker", another colour from Neo Sci-Fi (but I'm sure there are a hundred dupes). If you're into nudes, which I sort of am, there's one you should definitely try - GOSH's "Darling", lipstick.
If you're feeling even more low-maintenance in the heat, you can try a completely plain face, with a shocking orange lipstick, such as "Electro", "Morange", or "Vegas Volt".
L-R: "Apricot - Stila, "Pleasureseeker" - MAC, "Darling" - GOSH, "Electro" - MAC.

All pictures are mine. Will show you some FOTD's when I'm feeling less sickly! Haha. Should be going into London next week, and I have a list of things I want to buy!
