Julie's Jam Jars

Just one look last night and I was head-over-heels in love...

Over at Julie Whitmores I fell again for another jam jar...

Story of my life really...

For a girl who should NOT even look at sugary jams I never seem to learn...

Staying with French Girl in Paris is like being in a field of jam landmines - I need armour at that place truly...

I used to collect mini-jam jars desperately trying to subvert my addiction. Ha! A lot of good it did me...

News Alert*

I must report dear PBers, that I am throwing in the 'macaron' towel as far as baking goes. I've had it. 3 strikes and I'm OUT!

I'm going to stick with painting thumbnails instead...

And practicing watercolor layering, instead of layering failed meringues with buttercream...

I'll be having another 3-day sale of older watercolors in September...

And as a bonus for the 1st 8-10 watercolor sales, I'll throw in my French (and Japanese) macaron cook books. Lucky you.

I'VE HAD IT with baking!!!

Do stop in at Julies
for a delightful visit.

You'll thank me I know. Just look out for those enticing jam jars.

BONJOUR JULIE'S JAM!

Bonjour Croissants

Les Croissants Pur Beurre, watercolor, 9" x 11" Yesterday we ventured into the land of tartes and pate sucree. Today, fasten your seatbelts as we tear through the lush golden anatomy of the French croissant and pate feuilletee. Is it pâte brisée? I'm crazy for L'atelier des Chefs' fierce pastry instructor - I can watch him torture that pastry endlessly whatever it's name is...
Thanks to Merisi, I now have a special knife and can cut paper-thin slices of the golden croissant...
So much better to just munch a small bite and have a flat tum like these beauties..
If only I had a portable battery-operated knife to take to Paris, then I could eat a thin sliver of the richest pastries and not think twice about it.
It would fit into a Boulangerie bag.
On verra bien.
Yellow bird and Ladybug are thrilled with the new electric knife - so many petite morceaux du croissant/crumbs to devour.
BONJOUR WEEK-END!

Paris Signs of Automne

Does anyone do up their windows for automne/fall like the French?
One lone apple tells the story...
A primative squirrel in a children's shop vitrine says it all...
Though you may have to go to Boston or New York to see a real one...
Falling leaves..?
Iconic...
Even better - chocolate leaves for Fall.
Best of all leaves at Place des Vosges...
Or just one fallen leaf beside an orange Pierre Herme bag of goodies...
Cepes-champignon-mushrooms...
Toujours/always signs of Fall in Paris...
And plenty of real cepes in the Paris marches...
Venison, lapin, wild boar - more tastes of fall...
And what will Bambi wear this Fall?
Toujour l'orange!
Elle says le look for French girls is this..
On Monday Jan Gossart's fruity autumnal wreath made me think of...
Or should I say made me dream of...
Pain Quotidien's jams on the communal tables are left unattended!

No, I showed restraint and did not eat them to the last drop...

BONJOUR AUTOMNE!

Certaines Personnes...

Certaines personnes/some people have a lot of confiture/jam in their refrigerators... Certaines personnes think it's perfectly OK to go out and leave guests alone in their apartment completely surrounded by jam jars. Certaines personnes happen to be on vacance in Barcelona and are not going to see this post. These certaines personnes have tremendous amounts of jam in their frigo. And lurking on their pantry shelves.Certaines personnes have uncles who make their own honey/miel, so don't even think of giving them a fancy jar of honey when they run out. No way! Certaines personnes have boxes of jam tartelettes just hanging around. Certaines other personnes can only get up close and personal with a jar of jam when it's through a camera lense and behind glass barriers. They are allowed to get chummy with jars of paint pigment.
BUT THAT IS IT. PERIOD.
At Fortum & Masons...
It's best to keep certaines personnes at a distance from the jam jars. They have been known to attack a jar of jam with a spoon and not stop till they hit bottom.
Certaines personnes were contemplating taking these mini jam jars home, but thank gawd they were too embarrassed to do so.
They made the fatal error of going to the top floor at F&M for a tres cher afternoon tea.
Certaines personnes nearly missed their plane lingering over jam at CDG admiring gazillion jam jars.
Certaines personnes are late posting today but they'd much rather be in Paris, even if it is raining on Bastille day...
BONJOUR CERTAINES PERSONNES!
