Salon du Livre 2012

Bear went to Salon du Livre 2012 yesterday at Porte du Versailles.
So did a lot of other people!! WOW
And a lot of authors showed up.
 To sign many books...
 And make watercolors/drawings in books...
Tristan Banon signing her Le Bal des Hypocrites...
 I hung out at the kid's books/jeuness
 It was a reading free-for-all.
Just sit on the floor and read a book!
 Or read a sac/bag.
 JUST READ!
If you believe you are beautiful (kiss the frog!).
French cursive all over the place!
Not all French kids are angels.
Dico des Betises/dictionary of naughtinesses tells all. I brought along Bringing Up Bebe on my Kindle to keep well-informed on Fr kiddies. When you say, 'you made une betise' it's not the same as saying 'you are bad' - a subtle difference. This book is full of funny betises.
Some French kids don't love spinach, but they all love chocolat.
French children don't throw food, but they might throw paper airplanes at la maitress/the teacher, ahem.
In Peluches A Paris/Teddybears in Paris, a giant dog makes a giant crotte/poop at La Madeleine, AHEM
A serious chocolate book with no pictures(!) written by Jacques Pessis, président du Club des Croqueurs de Chocolat (for les adults).
I ate Haribo gummies at the Salon...
 They were FREE!
On the way home I saw a baker making bread at Boulangerie Charlot...
Enfin chez moi in BOBO 11th - the view from my tiny balcon. I have a tres mignon et tres practique chambre de bonne on the 6th floor (but there is an elevator Dieu merci!)

Unboxing Kindle 3G

Much as Bear and I love opening pastry boxes.
We have a BIG problem with anything techie. Some things sit in their boxes unopened for months
When the new Kindle 3G arrived on Wednesday we looked at the box a lot...
Finally we decided a post would do the trick. We would have to open it. Ta Da
Being a tad dyslexic, instructions throw us for a loop. There's a nice video here on opening and setting up your new Kindle. We played it safe and called Amazon 866-321-8851
 Doodly-doodly-do We're uploading
How come we got the %$#Kindle unboxed and setup?
Granted we already bought the app for our iPod Touch (which is gathering dust unused in a drawer).
The Kindle seems a LOT EASIER :)
Should we have gotten the Kindle Fire for color?
 YUM
We'll manage. It's the useful info we want. Less visual temptations won't hurt a bit.
And we're loving the 'Daily Deals'
Bon Week-End!

Book, Nook, Kindle?

More often than not when I visit the musee Louvre I avoid the lines...
And go instead to the Louvre bookstore under the pyramid.
It's never too crowded...
You can check out other exhibition catalogs on in Paris...
I'm a book-aholic. I love bookstores. I'll never give them up.
But I decided finally to give in and get a Kindle.
There will be books I won't be able to read on it...
Or maybe not?
At least I'll finally be able to read in bed not just on the subway...
Pestering Kindle readers on the subway and reading La Table de Nana's kindle post made up my mind.It is lighter than carrying a book around...
It might be nice to have some travel books in my bag in Paris,
Like Thirza Vallois' guide to the 1-6 arrondissements...
One thing you can't do with a Nook, iPad or Kindle is rest your hot teacup and macarons on it...
Do you LOVE your E-Readers PBers?
Do tell all!
