Paris Bunny Invasion

As we were out viewing the windows around the Madeleine. French Girl let out a great sniff. A 'HMPH' regarding the invasion of Easter bunnies in Fauchon's windows. I was informed traditionally the French only had chocolate church bells, chickens and eggs for Easter. The bunny is a trendy interloper. Perhaps like the wretched Cane Toad that invaded Australia? Here you see the classic French traditional chocolate church bell. For some reason I can't figure out the French are deeply enamoured with the stupidest looking chickens!
Honestly, does this look like a savvy chicken with je ne sais quoi to you? I think not.
At least Fauchon is keeping a low profile with their chickens - not quite so silly in my opinion. There will be more on the dumb French chicken/poule a demain. Prepare to be shocked.
The almighty PIERRE HERME has included a BUNNY in his Easter/Paques collection, so TAKE THAT French Girl! HMPH indeed.
Anyway bunnies are famous for proliferating madly so why fight it? The bunny has become like the cupcake in Paris - A fact of life.
Here you see the bunny and the chicken duking it out with the kingly egg on top. I think it's a losing battle. Some fiercely traditional Frenchies would do best to accept the influx of the trendie Bunny. That's all there is to it.
BONJOUR PARIS BUNNIES!

Ode to Printemps!

Last night French Girl and I went out to shoot the windows/les vitrines... Au Printemps department store was celebrating La Fete du Printemps... With giant floral bunnies... Floral swans...
In lavender no less...
And flower-headed Rockette Chorus girls...
Lined up...
In sumptuous rows...
A flower power couple even...
This flower girl succumbed to Spring Fever and fainted...
In a swoon from rose perfumes...
Hidden in ribboned boxes...

Suddenly behind us on boulevard Haussmann we heard a great WOOSH!
Hundreds upon hundreds of Parisien skaters took over the street in a woosh of Spring Fever!
One was decked out in blue lights!!

Then they were gone...
Ah, the ever present French escargot in luscious pink roses...
Don't forget Paris is laid out like a snail with the 20 arrondissements curling around on themselves and #1 at the center...

Et voila!

BONJOUR AU PRINTEMPS!

Bluebelle and Pebbles Go To Paris

The Year of the Rabbit, watercolor on Etsy, 9" x 11"

~Rosie in the UK contacted me, saying she wanted to send her 2 Bunnies to Paris

I was thrilled. Visions of Peter Cottontail danced in my head... When at last Bluebelle's photo arrived I was a tad taken aback. Who knew not all rabbits have ears standing upright.
Or that a very fine rabbit like Pebbles can legitimately have one ear up and one ear down? Meet the Lop Eared Rabbit!
Some bunnies are quelle ordinaire.Paris is full of lapin it turns out.
Surely it's the perfect place for Bluebelle et Pebbles to spend their Easter vacance.
They will be in very good company.
Do you have a bunny begging to go to Paris?
Or a chicken perhaps?
Why deprive them? They deserve a nice Easter break.
Once they've had their fill of macarons, what's to stop them high-tailing it over to Au Lapin Agile to down a coupe with Picasso.
Lop Eared Bunnies have quite won my heart. What about you? They're ever so friendly. Just watch the video and you'll be smitten.

BONJOUR BLUEBELLE & PEBBLES!
