Mini Paris Monuments

Paris has more monuments than any city on the planet...
I was looking at the Paris bus guide (75+ buses) and one spread (Bus 42) could keep you busy for two weeks hitting the high points.
Not all Paris monuments have to be monumental.
Like the green Wallace fountains spotted around Paris.
The presse kiosks and ad columns 'Colonne Morris' (mercimarie, Veronique).
Metro signs are another fav mini monument.
What about the French beret or street signs?
 Petit dejeuner is a well-loved Paris mini-monument.
 The ardoise/blackboard is another fav.
Can a Paris mini monument be living, breathing?
 A demonstration is a not-so-mini Paris monument.
The ubiquitous macaron - eaten before it hits the plane.
French parfum is a mini monument you can bring home.
Paris monuments can come home with you on a mug!
What's your favorite Paris mini monument?

PastryParis

There's nothing like browsing old Paris pics to get in a certain frame of mind. Especially when you're supposed to be drawing Place Vendome + gems + perfume bottles etc.
I've yet to ride a Bateau Mouche though I watched Audrey Hepburn ride with Cary Grant in Charade the other day.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM Here's a bateaux that will make you want to dream.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM Christophe Michalak's Tarte au Citron Meringuee by Susan Hochbaum,
from Susan's new PastryParis gift book.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM Susan juxtaposes Paris' most luscious treasures, often in onsite settings, in a whimsical way that reflects their design, colors, ingenuity.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM Bear and myself have been tussling over who is going to get their paws on Susan's book.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM Bear, being the true Parisian, has, so far, the upper...hand
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM Visual wit abounds. Look at the sublime repetition of forms in the Laurent Duchene's minty mousse dome sitting on a layer of strawberry jam amidst raspberry coulis whilst facing the Pont Neuf.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM Pierre Herme's macarons sit by the Saint-Sulpice fountain, just a stones throw from his shop on 72, rue Bonaparte. Clever of Herme to put his patisserie by a park full of benches for hungry shoppers.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM 'Bear stop hoarding Susan's book!'
You can meet Susan at WH Smith in Paris on October 20 at 7 PM.
Just be sure to RSVP.
There will be a pastry tasting and champers
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM I was gazing so intently at Susan's Napoleon/croissant hat, I had to run out of the house and find something to pop in my mouth. Now I know how you feel when visual temptation calls.
PASTRY PARIS BY SUSAN HOCHBAUM I'm lucky a shop nearby carries Balthazar almond croissants. Did you know this is what happens to the day-old left over croissants? They're filled with almond paste, smothered in toasted almonds and sort of squashed down. I always think they look a bit sat on...Still it tasted darn good after drooling over Susan's pictures.
Susan's book will be out on October 11, so mark your calendars and have pastry on hand for heavens sake!
BONJOUR PastryParis!

iPod Touch I Think I Luv U

BEAR is not too thrilled with his new iPod Touch 4th Gen...
He's threatening to do something lethal if we don't figure this %$#@ thing out soon...
HELP George Clooney! Where R U when we need U?
Bet this 5-year old on Mad Ave could figure out the iPod Touch but we can't :(

What's with this slidey thing at the bottom? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And don't tell me to read the directions in the box - R U kidding. The type is -00.

BEAR does love his Paris maps so we managed to buy and downloaded all the Paris map apps David Lebovitz told us too...

So pretty non?

We heard the Louvre app is really swell and hey it's FREE. We got it. But how come we CAN'T OPEN #@!$IT!?

In fact we can't open any APPS we uploaded...

Why is that? SOS!

Someone at David's said this was a REALLY good app - but it's 303MB..isn't that like too many MBs? We only have 32 gigs on our little iPod Touch thingie :(

So these are my Apps so far. AND do not say anything about the Better Bum App - it's supposed to be really good according to the Daily Mail or some rag and hey it's FREE

Right now BEAR & I feel pretty idiotic 'cause we are not getting this iPod Touch thing. Is there a How-to book/class for us?YES! ANd we got it!

When we GET it, we are gonna toast Paris big time soon!

BEAR says he wants a cashmere baby bearfriend too...Hmmm

Soon we can create our own ICE CREAM APP right?

Got any great PARIS APPS PBers?

A BIG MERCI for buying books & stuff at PB! That's how we got this iPod thing - with award points.

iPOD TOUCH THING I think I Luv U!

Update:I found a book with BIG pictures, My iPod Touch(2nd edition) - they have lots of How-to videos here. Plus I'd set my iPod thing to ZOOM so I had do a 'RESTORE'-easy as tarte citron. We're cookin' BEAR et moi. Open Apps? - Open Sesame!

DIY Gingerbread Houses

I've been wondering if 'After-Christmas Sales' include...
DIY gingerbread house sets I saw hither and thither..? Update: Forget these! They've been recalled! A BIG NO NO!
I'd liked to make this Van Gogh-esque starry, starry night house in particular...
Lord & Taylor obliged with a gingerbread house theme in their windows...
Marshmellow roofing - what a good idea!
And gumdrop landscaping...
Furthermore Lord & Taylors provided actual DIY kitchen scenes...
With Mother keeping a discrete eye on the kids shenanigans...
Sadly L & T did not provide a recipe for making your gingerbread house...
Another kidlet adds finishing touches or is she about to sneak a bite of roof?
On the upper East side French Bon Point had white paper cutout houses in their vitrines...
I would have much preferred to see a gingerbread version of this chocolatier...
Or this Paris bistro...
These paper cutout store fronts were in a Marais papeterie boutique vitrine...
Best of all I would like to see gingerbread Paris monuments!
If they can make them out of Legos why not gingerbread non?
BONJOUR GINGERBREAD MAISONS!
