Fashion Guru's, flyyy...

I bought this top at the weekend and I am incredibly indecisive about whether I want to keep it! So I'm turning to you lovely folk, as I think you'll be able to help me..
It's
this pretty thing, from Dorothy Perkins, and it also comes in black, which I think I might like more now I've seen it.. oops!
Anyway, I tried it on in the shop, without anything underneath it (it's very see-through, and if I was skinnier, I would wear it like that) and I liked it, it was slouchy and floaty and pretty. I was excited to buy it. Get it home, try it on with a little vest/cami underneath.. and I dunno. I still LIKE it, but in the shop I really loved it. What happened?

What do you think..? I need
moral fashion guidance!
I also
bought that coat I had my eye on, and a little black dress...
But the last two were bought online, and it was 20% off at the time.. so I got both the coat and the dress for £80 as opposed to £100? Haha. I know, that's no help.

Smells like Autumn.

I start my degree on Monday and I'm pretty much just desperate to start already! I need a bit of something new in my life, and a fresh-start, or something.
And then I was on Tumblr the other day and saw this picture and I was like YES. This is what I want. I want hats and scarves and boots and autumn.

So I bought myself some boots and I dug out my scarves and I am looking forwad to being able to wear them. And this picture generally just emulates what I'm into for this Winter. I did a little hunting on my favourite websites, New Look, River Island, Dorothy Perkins, ASOS (I cannot WAIT until H&M open their online store!).

I'm totally buying into the whole chunky socks and boots trend, too, I want to hit up River Island and buy me some. The heeled boots with aviator-style-fluff are from New Look and I want them so badly. I just can't think where I would wear them, and as a five-ten girl, I don't really need boots like this, haha. So I compensated and bought
the black boots in the bottom left, courtesy of River Island. They were only £40 and thought they would be useful for winter times and slogging about uni. I definitely want a big fairisle-style scarf, like the black and white River Island one or the grey New Look one in the bottom left. I also really want a parka. I'll have to see about that one.
In conclusion, it has rained all day and I want to start at uni already! Going to check out my friends halls down at Maidstone tomorrow, hoping this will get me all geared up for it. (:
What are you wearing this winter? Show me!

Father's Day What?

I went into town today with my mum, with the intention of getting a father's day present for my dad (duh), and came back with some stuff for myself. I'm not very good at this, am I? Oh well. I did get my dad some presents, too.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Lipstick in 13 Peach Passion and China Glaze Nail Polishes in Flip Flop Fantasy/Sun Worshipper from the Poolside collection.
I wore Rouge Volupte to work today but I'll wait a bit longer before doing a proper review! So far, I really love the colour and it goes on super smooth, I like that. The packaging is lush, too. Very pretty and classy, as you expect.

I had to go out to work, but I couldn't help but do a quick swatch of these.. they're so awesome! These were the two I really wanted and I almost bought them offline the other day, but I'm glad I didn't because I wanted them the second I saw them. These are so bright! Like.. day-glo fluroescent bright. I pretty much love neons, apparently. All I seem to do is buy them, I think I have about 5 China Glaze Neon's? Oh well! Haha. Back to my point! I always put topcoats over them, because I prefer them glossy, but they're super stunning without;
Flip Flop Fantasy is a brilliant neon coral, somewhere between pink and orange and red. It's sooo bright. And Sun Worshipper is the orange that I just can't get over. It's like traffic-cone orange mixed with yellow and just great. In this picture I've got topcoat on my middle and ring finger, and my index and pinky are without, all matte.
I've just done a full manicure with Flip Flop Fantasy.. so expect a full review shortly!

And a bit of the old Body Shop. They were on offer for 2 for £8 again.. so my mum got one and so did I, haha. I don't even like Grapefruit but this smells fantastic. I am pretty much addicted to these shower gels.
Also, how excellent is the word 'pamplemousse'? It's excellent, I like saying it..

I tweeted about this but I thought I would just show you guys.. I got this from Primark the other week. £6 in the men's section.. I love it, ahah. I'm such a geek, excuse me..

Well I can't really go naked, can I?

Recently.. I have spent far far far too much money and bought quite a bit of clothes! I can't help that I love summery dresses and they're in all the shops at the moment.. Understandably I've bought a few bits and pieces, and thought I'd share and tell you where to find such items.. (: I've linked to a couple of things, so you can see how things differ from the internet image, too.

Flowery bandeau dress, £7.99, H&M
This top has been absolutely perfect for sunbathing in, and just lounging about when it's really hot out. I love that it's just about long enough on me to wear with leggings underneath. My friend Laura got it in black, too, but I fancied something a bit different as I own a
lot of black!

Grey-blue striped dress, £9.99, H&M
I've worn this a lot recently, and I really love it. Unfortunately with various bras, I have to be careful about showing off too much boob! It came in a green-stripe too, but it reminded me too much of old school dresses, so I went for the blackish-grey striped one. It looks a bit blue in some lights, too. An odd colour, we'll say, but nice for hot days, also.

Long green dress, £24.99, Apricot at New Look
I am desperate for it to get really warm and I can wear this on many of the beach and BBQ trips we have planned! It's on the long side, so I'm hoping it'll be good for hanging out at the beach or my garden with bare legs - I hate my legs! haha.

Hummingbird shirt, £4.99, H&M
Definitely love this. I
adore hummingbirds and really want to own them.. so I pretty much buy anything with them on! Haha. And it was only a fiver! Super comfy. I've been slobbing about uni and town in this with leggings and some summery flats, and a light cardi.. love it. On the hanger, it looks like it has a bit of an odd-placed line around the middle, but it comes to just under my chest, which is good, but I've worn it a few times with a belt around me middle. It comes in other colours, too.

Striped nautical ballet-flats, £12, New Look
These were priced at £12, but I got them when New Look was doing a 20% off with a student card month, so they were a bit cheaper than that. I was trying to stock up on cute flats for the summer, and it's a pain to find things in my size, so I pounced on these when I saw them. They also come in yellow and red. I quite like the red ones, actually.. hmn..

Flamingo necklace, £4, Accessorize / Love bracelet, £4, Accessorize / Bow ring, £4, Dorothy Perkins
I've bought a great deal of jewellry recently, but I'm just showing you my favourite pieces. I've been into gold, too, which I hated when I was little, but I think it works better with my skintone, for whatever reason.

The next were a few things I got for my birthday, so I'm not 100% sure on the price!

Lime green dress, £3.99 H&M
This is supposed to be one of those beachy cover-up's and as such, it's made out of really thin material (which is why it's so cheap), which makes it a little bit see-through, but it's hella comfy and I have a bra the same cololur.. so I'm set. (:

Parrot vest, £10, New Look
I just thought this was really cute! Haha.

Blue maxi dress, £35, Dorothy Perkins
I realllly wanted a maxi-dress. I was hunting for them. This should really be pre-empted by the fact I am five foot ten and a half. Maxi dresses in normal shops aren't really maxi dresses on me.. more like.. calf-dresses. it's awkward, in all. I found this in the
Tall section in Dorothy Perkins and it was the absolute perfect length. I wore this the day of my birthday BBQ, which was pretty lovely. (: It's amazingly comfotable, and I love the design.

White leggings with brown stitching, £5ish, H&M /
Brown Leggings, £10, New Look
I needed some new leggings because I basically live in them, and fancied something that was a bit different from my usual black. The white ones are what I guess you would call 'jeggings' but I hate that word, and I they're basically legging material, just with the stitching. The brown ones are very comfy, too. (:

And that's all folks! Hope you liked this and it wasn't too picture heavy for you.. (:

Shopping Addiction

I was wondering whether or not to do this post, because I know how cruel people can be on the internet - but I don't really care to be honest - I've always been a larger girl. To start with, I'm over five foot ten tall... Plus, I've always had big hips, big thighs and big boobs, and I'm pretty much okay with it, to be honest. I've been reading a lot of blogs by Young, Fat and Fabulous and Fatshionable, who are both gorgeous and stylish, and it's really inspired me. After looking at their blogs, I went and did some imaginary online-shopping for some pretty dresses and found so many! (For those not in the know, imaginary online-shopping is filling up your basket with all the lovely things you want, and never pressing purchase) I thought I'd post a few of the things I've found here.

Sea Horse Embellished Top, £40.00
2,
Asymmetical Macrame Top, £28.00

Kimono Sleeve Lace Dress, £35.00
4,
Embellished Neck Swing Dress
5,
Double Strap Dress, £22.00
6,
Hyper Real Sequin Embellished Top, £40.00/£45.00

I only recently heard about ASOS Curve, now I don't really need as big as they go up too, but I think it's really great that they basically just do their regular clothes in large sizes. Personally I don't really know why they have to be in a separate section, but what you gonna do. They seem to keep adding more, too. And the other things are just some things I'm loving right now. I think my ~summer style~, if you will, is pretty obvious! haha.

Dorothy Perkins:

Peach Bow Shirred Hem Top, £25.00
2,
Black & Cream Floral Print Top, £29.00
3,
Pink Ditsy Frill Front Dress, £20.00

5,
Blue Stripe Hummingbird Vest, £25.00
6,
Cream Stud Shoulder Hanky Hem Top, £26.00
7,
Black & White Parrot Vest, £18.00

I've always really appreciated Dorothy Perkins' tall section - I've recently been on a hunt for a great maxi-dress and was turning up short (most of them by about a foot) until checking out the tall section in Dotty P's and found
this beauty which is lovely, in my opinion.
And I think you might be able to tell I'm suffering from a bird-obsession at the moment. I'm still not sure why, though. I want to own a hummingbird, still, too. They're too cute for words, see;

Pre-Birthday Spending

It's my birthday in a weeks time, so a few days k gone my mum took me shopping in town and I bought lots of new clothes and some shoes and things.. none of which I'm allowed until my birthday! Sigh, I hate waiting! Haha. But I bought a few things for myself..

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter, Lush, £5.50
Seche Vite Top Coat, Sally's, £8.99
China Glaze Polish in Frostbite, Sally's, £5.99
Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File and Protective Case, Boots, £10

I definitely didn't mean for them to be all nail based, really, but that is how it turned out, I suppose. I have used all of these and so far I am in love! But I'm going to keep using them for a little bit longer before I do a full review on them. (:
And then I got myself this great shirt from H&M (one of my favourite shops!).

Flamingo Shirt, roughly £10, which I personally think is a bargain for a flamingo, haha, my mum thought it looked dead..
A few days after that my friend wanted/needed (the lines are blurry!) to buy some new shoes.. so as a good friend, I went with her..and got some shoes for myself.. (:

Grey Jersey Flats, Primark, £5
I really wanted some cute new flat for when I dash out to the shops or hanging about in the garden or with friends.. it's a proper bitch to find my size, let me tell you. I'm a size 9. So when I spotted this find for £5 in Primark, I definitely didn't hesitate.

Black Zip-Front Cage Courts, New Look, £22
These were actually £19-something with a student discount card, which is awesome! It's my birthday in seven days (eee!) and I'll be going out with a bunch of friends fro the night out, of course, and wanted some slightlyyy lower heels to wear out so my feet will last all night and not protest.. so I got these. Looking them up on New Look for you, I see that they do nude ones, which are pretty cute, too. Also in size 9! Check it out, big-footed girls.

In The Buff Nail Polish, MAC, £8.99

Cockatoo Necklace, Accessorize, £5
My mum thought this was bizarre, again, but she hates birds.. I love it, it's so cute!

I don't really want to get into the habit of doing haul posts, really, I'd rather do them as like, coming-soon-review posts, haha. That said, expect some reviews!

these are a few of my favorite things: winter 2009!

ok guys, so my laptop is still messed up and i don't really have anywhere to update from because i can't store files on my mom's computer. the only place i can update is from work because i installed my image editing program here and whatnot. i don't come to work often (it's more of a volunteer thing) and so i can't update often, especially since updates take a while to do (making graphics and whatnot). i've missed blogging a lot, and have missed reading your comments and all that jazz. every time a new season comes along i make a 'favorites' post, listing some of my favorite items for the season. there are always some expensive items and some more affordable items. i hope you enjoy this!
♥ me

p.s. i am out of school for the time being (don't you just loveeee winter break?), but in mid january i will go back to the drudgery of school. :P hopefully i can get in more updates during the break!

wfav (to see full size click on it, i know the labels look fuzzy)

ok, so before anyone tells me anything: i know that this collage is very black and grey. i'm usually a more coloful gal but lately i've been leaning towards the darker side? my mom LOVES black and of course with a love of black she loves grey as well, and i always resisted that and tried to be more colorful but i guess now she's rubbing off on me. oh well, black is always in.

i am so in love with the giambattista valli silk lace knee length dress. it is so classy. i know i could buy this now and wear it forever. it is $1,625 at netaporter.com and by golly, if i had the money i'd buy it!

knee high and thigh high boots are so in right now, and before everyone started wearing them all the fashion bloggers were anticipating the high boot craze because they were all over the runways and so eventually they'd have to be in the stores. i have to say, i wasn't quite sure if i'd hop onto the high boot bandwagon or not but i am absolutely loving them now. i especially love brian atwood's new davis suede boots! just pair them with a sweater dress/sweater coat, put on sunglases, a hat, spritz on some perfume and dash out the door!

of course i have ysl tribtoo's on the list. they are so perfect. netaporter only has them in grey patent leather but they are also available in suede as well as many other colors.

on the cheaper end of the fashion spectrum is the poked bead ring prices at a nice $9.99 at pinkice.com. i love it's warm coloring, with it's muted pink beads and firey stone in the center as well as the dark metal that complements it nicely. the ring also has a not so perfect round shape that can be seen more clearly if you look at it from a bird's eye view.

i am currently obsessed. O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D. i am obsessed with getting my hands on ck one. it reminds me of my childhood and it's a classic, fresh, invigorating scent. i keep saying i'm going to order it, but never get around to it. i will by the end of the year.

i am using burt's bees herbal blemish stick and i am very pleased with it's results. i was having major breakouts in the cheek/jaw region for some unknown reason and by using the all natural blemish stick my blemishes have gone down. my skin still has a long way to go. but i think that i've learned my lesson from switching up my facial care products: my skin likes burt's bees. i think i'm going to try and use more of their products.

thanks for reading, what are your winter faves?

bebe loves balmain and alexander mcqueen

bebe

i love when i can recognize direct runway inspiration from designer runway shows in retail shops that a lot of women like to frequent. bebe loves to take inspiration from the runway and i smiled when i saw their sequin beaded ruched lace top for $89. it instantly reminded me of the beautiful balmain creation you can see to the left. selita ebanks looked great in that dress, you can see a picture of her in it in the top 10 best dressed celebs list on this site. bebe has also taken inspiration from the genius that is alexander mcqueen. they have made their own versions of his studded platform booties that go for around $1000. you can get the same look for $149 from bebe.com. i really love these shoes and want then in the black, silver and grommet versions.

so, which do you prefer? the knock off or the real thing?

usually when i do posts like this you prefer the real thing. for me, i prefer the real balmain dress and for the alexander mcqueen booties...if i was paying i'd just get the bebe versions because they're just as good even if the heel is slightly thicker than the mcqueens.
