"Hi, babies have fingernails. FINGERNAILS."

Just a quick one from me today!
I recently just remembered I owned this nail-polish, and it's pretty gorgeous! This is 303 Bright Purple from Barry M.
If you're wondering what it looks like in person, think about the colour of the bottles of Vimto! It's pretty much a perfect match, haha, I compared once.
I've been wearing it with China Glaze's Agent Orange on my toes.
What are your recent fingers & toes combos?

(PS, sorry about the title! haha. I watched Juno the other week.)

Friday Favourites! (9th October)

I like the idea of a weekly favourite post! So I'm going to do one whenever I have time. I am not promising every week though! sometimes, I like to go out on a Friday night.. haha.

Venomous Villains & Jin Soon Nail Trend 2010!
(L-R: Rain of Flowers, Formidable, Bad Fairy)
- Bad Fairy looks amazing over a mustardy yellow and over black. Over red it gives it a pinky tinge. I want to try it over a green but I'm tired right now.
- Formidable is intense, I adore it, it looks even better over a purple or a yellow.
-
Rain of Flowers is gorgeous in bright lights, and the rest of the time has a little, distinct shimmer.
-
Mean & Green, the one I didn't GET, but thought I would like the most.. is weird! It's an odd mixture of green and purple and yellow. It looked weird on the nail. Shame, but I picked up Rain of Flowers from the Nail Trend Collection instead! Silver linings.
- These are PACKED full of glitter. Look. Glitter is gorgeous.
I have work in the morning but I'll do a full review tomorrow, with sunlight and everything!

Winter Coats
I tried on some coats today in Dorothy Perkins and I reaaaally want either a parka or a big duffle coat. I am unsure, though. I have to decide. I really loved the grey-duffle, but it's £65. I do want a new coat, though. Oh, dilemmas..

Dramatic Makeup
More dramatic makeup. I felt like I got into a super deep rut with my makeup and needed a change. So I'm putting down my beloved Naked palette and reaching for my Illamasqua and MAC a bit more. This was today. It looks gold & brownish in this picture, but it was deep purple in real-life and black in the crease. Damn camera.

GOSH Fix Base Coat & Holographic Joy
I wore GOSH Holographic with the Fix Base Coat, supposedly akin to NFU-Oh's Aqua Base, and it's amazing! A polish that would normally have chips in by the end of the first day lasted for three, with only a little chipping around the edges! It also made it much smoother and easier to apply. Definite fan of that one. Oh, and my nails are short again, I was getting irritated!

Green Giraffes & Great Friends
I had the most amazing dessert at Giraffe today. Actually my whole meal was pretty good, but the dessert was amazing. Belgian waffle, roasted banana, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream. They messed up our starter, but they gave us a little giraffe to make up for it. Mine is the green one. I had a lovely catch-up with a friend from work too, and ended up talking for ages in the restaurant cause we barely see each other at work anymore, it's got so stressful, haha.

How has your week been? I've been rushing to get a painting finished all week so I could really enjoy myself today! I have to be up early tomorrow, but I'm only working until 1.30PM and I get Sunday off! Winner. Sunday lie-in, anyone?

Particularly chuffed. Oh, my wit.

Still in the midst of my blogging drought, I'm afraid! Computer is still being fixed, but I know whats wrong with it, and it's costing me shocking £495 to fix it! It's literally tear-inducing. Unfortunately, I've kinda learned this is what you get with Mac's, and as much I as I adore them and their products, they're ridiculously sensitive machines, and it costs a bomb to fix them. People have told me I'm crazy to pay that much for it to be fixed.. But when you think that the cheapest MacBook you can buy (not comparable to mine) is around £800, it's more understandale. Then pair that with the fact it has two years worth of work on it.. that I can't really replace! So kids, look after them, they do go wrong!

Anyway! I'm still making do with my parents computer, but as I can't get access to my camera software and things like that, it makes posting fairly awful! However, I did manage this sneaky snap with my iPhone, which has a blessedly good camera!
My older brother came home from a six-week journey across the states which I am ridiculously jealous of, but he brought my back a little present..

Isn't it lovely?! It's like a nicer version of You Don't Know Jacques by OPI, a lighter, creamier, better formula version.. I am fully in love with this colour. If YDKJ looks like wet clay, this looks like Galaxy chocolate. I adore it and I am so grateful for my brother for getting it for me! I also got a little sample of some lovely mascara and a little bit of eye-makeup remover! Gotta love the brother. (:
I hope everyone did really well in their GCSE's and A-Level's by the way! My younger brother did excellent in his GCSE's and is going to do some ridiculous A-Level's now! So glad I'm not doing that stuff! Haha.
Hope you're all well and normal blogging will commence shortly..? Sigh! Who knows?

Primark Rings and Other Things...

...and how I could be in the Sound of Music.I'm joking. I've also never seen that movie all the way through. But that is beside the point.
Yesterday I went into Reading to see the loveeeeely Miss Rachel. Even WITH the decidedly awful weather, we had a nice wander around the shops, a lunch that was eaten outside, precariously, under Pret a Manger's awning, lots of gossip and laughs, and we even trekked it up to Primark, which was an effort because of the rainnnnn.
But they have redone Reading Primark! I am quite impressed. It looks 1000x better than it used to. If you've ever been to that one, it always looks a bit of a mess. So I'm quite glad that they've done it, because they don't have those silly tower things where they fold clothes on anymore, and they've sorted out the jewelery section so that actually HAVE a good one now..and that is where I picked these babies up!
These are awesome! I've generally never really bought any jewellery from Primark because I've just never found anything that I really like. Then recently I've found loads of stuff I like. I bought an awesome pair of owl-earrings the other day which I'll show you at some point, and I got the snake ring in the top right at the same time..Buttt
t I got the rabbit, the bee/bug, and the ball. They look kind of funny lying down like this, and I realised this when I was editing the pictures, so here is a Photobooth picture, to show you what they look like on..
I loveee these. They were all £2 each! That's a right bargain. And I'm a sucker for anything animal themed. However, I have learnt my lesson all too well with cheap jewelery, so when I got them home, I immeditaely painted the inside of the bands with clear nail-varnish, and this will protect the metal from tarnishing as quickly and will stop your fingers from turning green! Which is really handy. I love the one of the bug in particular even my mum was like, "Clare. These are so weird." Haha, I don't think she understands me sometimes.

I also realised the other night that I have no like.. 'traditional' nail varnishes. I have loads of blues and greens and purples and things, but very few reds or pinks or corals, so I wanted to expand on that by buying a deep, vampy red. And I got a damn perfect one!
This is Barry M's Wine Red. And it's gorgeousss. I had to do a little clean up on my index finger and it stained it a little bit, but it's a beautiful vampish red jelly. It's a little lighter than the bottle, but if you layer it up it gets darker. But I demand you all go out and get it because it's beautiful and I just had to take it off because I have work tomorrow and that makes me sad.

And it's late now and I have to go to bed now or I won't wake up in time for work and then my manager will be angry and I could lose my job. Fun stuff!

Shopping: It's an awful, awful addiction.

And someone needs to take my credit card away from me! Argh!

As I said a few days ago, I went to Westfields on Monday, in London. After minimal hassle getting there (like my dad leaving the sat-nav cable in his car at work...!) and going the wrong way in Shepherd's Bush.. we got there.
And I had my serious shopping head on! I wanted to find a dress to wear out on Tuesday night as I was going on a night out with some friends and I'm just fed up of everything I own! Plus my crazy-overtime made it possible to go on shopping-frenzies.
I got two dresses. (:
I went and had a good look around New Look, and this was where I aimed to find something. Say of New Look what you will, I love it. I have too much boob and hip for the likes of Topshop or something like that, and think that Topshop is waaaay overrated, personally. I like buying stuff from places like Dorothy Perkins and New Look and making it my style, instead of buying someone else's style, if this makes sense!
Anyway, to New Look we went, and I couldn't really find anything at first, if I'm honest. We tried on jumpsuits which were horrendous! Haha, clearly 5'10 is not a good height for an average person jumpsuit. My crotch.. well it weren't pretty, and let's leave it at that.
Then I tried on this dress, and wasn't a massive fan on the hanger, if I'm honest. Got it on, and I loveeed it! It makes my boobs look really good, sucks my waist in just about right thanks to the elastic band around the middle, and the poofy skirt.
If you follow me on Twitter, you'll see I posted a picture of me (excuse my stupid face! haha) in it, but this is it;
2 in 1 Mesh Dress, £28

I'm not sure about the flower, but it is just pinned on so i might take it off and put it in my hair or something. I want to wear this with big curly hair and black smoky eyes and lots of baby-pink lipstick. It was a bit pricey at £28 but I liked so I didn't really mind. Bad times my student-discount has expired until September. ):
I didn't buy it straight away, and went to look in H&M, as I usually find some great finds in there. I tried on a few things that I liked, but then I got to this one and it was just very me. This is an awful picture, sorry, and I don't have one of it on butttt;

I well love it. Haha. It's quite long, but I'm tall, and it's very comfy. It was £19.99 which is pretty good, I feel. It comes with extra bits incase any fall off, which is also handy. I wore it out on Tuesday night, in fact, paired with brown gladiator sandals, golden-brown nail varnish and straightened hair. Here you can see my hair and makeup, but I didn't get any full length shots, I'm afraid!

I also picked up a couple of nail-polishes when I was in Inglot. I love these because they're super good quality for not so much dollarr. These are £7! And for that you get 15ml, which is the same as an OPI or Illamasqua polish (China Glaze are 14ml and MAC are 10ml, for comparison). Which to be honest, for a good quality polish I don't mind paying for. And they have a fantastic range of colours. I'd link you to their website.. but you can't buy their products from it which is
incredibly frustrating.

320 and 851.

I kinda hate that they don't have names because numbers are so tricky to remember! But anyway, I got these two. The darker one, I adoree. I wore it on my nails Tuesday night because it's a super dark brownish-black with gold flecks and it looks awesome when it catches the light. And the green one.. well I went to put it on last night and it was just a ball of frost, really. In the shop I swatched it over some leftover polish on my nail (MAC's Blue India) and it was much prettier. So I'm not sure what to do with this one! I think it might have to be one for layering. Sigh.

Today I needed to get my moisturiser because I just couldn't cope without it for much longer, and my friend needed to take some shoes back that had broken on her.

I feel like the glowing halo behind this picture is accurate because it is my One True Love. No moisturiser will ever compete with this bad boy. It is beyond fantastic and I am very glad it is back in my life. All is well, now.
And then my other friend needed some leggings from H&M and so I picked up a couple of basic things, which H&M do very well.

Black 'Satin' Headband, £2.99 / 10 Brown Hair-Ties, £1.99 / Eyeliner Sharpener, 99p

I also picked up a couple of sneaky black cardigans/wraps from New Look because one, I need them, and two, both of them were down in price. One was long and drapey and down from £17.99 to £12, and the other was
shorter and had a sort of mottled-pattern and down from £16 to £9! So y'know.. kinda had to, really..! But shh, don't tell my mum.. I'm telling myself they'll be good for the autumn.

And another quick picture of my makeup today. I want to wear this kind of makeup with that first dress and the new headband and curl my hair.. so now I need an excuse to do that! This is Creme Cup lipstick by MAC, fyi. (:

First Experiences With Illamasqua's Nail Polishes.. & Something Shiny.

I was in London recently and my mum promised me a treat, so naturally I stopped by the Illamasqua counter, and picked up these two;

Force and Elope, both are £13

They look a little light in the bottles here, but I have individual swatches.
This is Elope;

I saw this and was drawn to it like a fly (psst, see my previous post
about greens.. haha) and the girl swatched it for me and it looked awesome, so I said yes. Unfortunately, on me, it came off sort of weird. With like a rubbery finish? You can sort of see it in the picture. I hope that it was just something I did when I applied it, so I applied it about a week later and I didn't have any of the same problems, which pleases me because it's a reallyyy beautiful colour. I used a top-coat and everything but just dunno! I also worried it was very similar to a cheapo Collection 2000 colour, so I swatched them both side by side on my thumb so you can see;

On the left is Ninja by Collection 2000 (£1.79) and on the right is Elope by Illamasqua.

They look identical in the bottles, but to a green-freak like me, they're different enough to warrant having both, because it's a deeper green. Ninja suddenly looks far too pastel-y when next to it.
The next one is Force, from Illamasqua's latest Body Electrics collection;

This is just immense. It's an absolutely gorgeous colour. A very true, pretty, light royal blue. I highly highly highly recommend this one, and I don't have anything like it in my collection, and it goes on in one coat, pretty much.
The formula's are absolutely great, especially for Force, I just wish I didn't have that one-time weird plasticy finish on Elope. Elope goes on excellently, even if it did take a fewww coats, but it's great. I love these, but I wish the price wasn't quite so steep, but you do pay for an excellent product and eternally classy packaging.

Price: 3/5
Packaging: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Formula: 4/5
Overall: 4/5

Would I buy this product again?
Absolutely definitely. There's a range of colours I have my beady little eyes on.

Now onto the something shiny.. I definitely bought one of these babies a few weeks ago..

Before you start telling me about all the things that could potentially maybe go wrong with it.. just don't. Don't be so pathetic, I've had enough of that and it's just pisses me off.

Just thought I'd share because I can't resist something shinyy!

Sincerest Apologies!

Hey guys, I am so sorry I haven't posted recently! I have been trying to do overtime at work so I can save up some pennies, and this involved me starting at 7.30 three times last week and only having one day off all week! To someone that normally works on average eight hours a week, it's been a bit of a shock. And I've generally just feeling a bit low and depressed all this week so I haven't really felt like blogging a great deal, if I'm honest!
Gonna take a minute here to be completely open with you guys. I mentioned in a previous post that I suffer from seasonal-depression, when really I just suffer from depression. I say 'just', it's a very consuming illness. And yes, it is an illness, and a disability.With me, it manifests itself as an intense sad feeling, where I can't get out of bed in the morning, I find it very hard to sleep during the night and find myself sleepy and lethargic all day and nap quite often. I cry a lot and don't want to leave the house. So as you can see, it's not really conducive to blogging. If
If you're interested in awareness,
here's a link to the Depression Alliance with more information.

Anyway, moving on from that and to something more suitable for this blog, I thought I'd show you something that I've enjoyed doing recently. I was watching an episode of the Graham Norton Show and Kelly Rowland was on it - and she had one of what I am calling ring-finger manicures. She had a bright yellow colour, just on her ring-fingers and I wanted to try out something similar.

On my nails I have China Glaze's Turned Up Turquoise (A full picture and review of which
you can find here) and China Glaze's Frostbite on my ring-finger, both of which cost £5.99 from Sally's.

I realllllly like this idea. I was worried it would look a bit childish, but I think as long as you use colours that work well together, like this, it looks really good. Turned Up Turquoise is actually a neon, and as such it is matte, but with a top-coat it works well next to Frostbite, which is a deep, frosty blue. Have you done this? Show me pictures! (:

Father's Day What?

I went into town today with my mum, with the intention of getting a father's day present for my dad (duh), and came back with some stuff for myself. I'm not very good at this, am I? Oh well. I did get my dad some presents, too.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Lipstick in 13 Peach Passion and China Glaze Nail Polishes in Flip Flop Fantasy/Sun Worshipper from the Poolside collection.
I wore Rouge Volupte to work today but I'll wait a bit longer before doing a proper review! So far, I really love the colour and it goes on super smooth, I like that. The packaging is lush, too. Very pretty and classy, as you expect.

I had to go out to work, but I couldn't help but do a quick swatch of these.. they're so awesome! These were the two I really wanted and I almost bought them offline the other day, but I'm glad I didn't because I wanted them the second I saw them. These are so bright! Like.. day-glo fluroescent bright. I pretty much love neons, apparently. All I seem to do is buy them, I think I have about 5 China Glaze Neon's? Oh well! Haha. Back to my point! I always put topcoats over them, because I prefer them glossy, but they're super stunning without;
Flip Flop Fantasy is a brilliant neon coral, somewhere between pink and orange and red. It's sooo bright. And Sun Worshipper is the orange that I just can't get over. It's like traffic-cone orange mixed with yellow and just great. In this picture I've got topcoat on my middle and ring finger, and my index and pinky are without, all matte.
I've just done a full manicure with Flip Flop Fantasy.. so expect a full review shortly!

And a bit of the old Body Shop. They were on offer for 2 for £8 again.. so my mum got one and so did I, haha. I don't even like Grapefruit but this smells fantastic. I am pretty much addicted to these shower gels.
Also, how excellent is the word 'pamplemousse'? It's excellent, I like saying it..

I tweeted about this but I thought I would just show you guys.. I got this from Primark the other week. £6 in the men's section.. I love it, ahah. I'm such a geek, excuse me..

MAC's In The Buff Nail Polish Review..

I stopped by my local MAC counter the other week now, to check out the To The Beach collection. And although I really liked this collection, I have most of the colours they released anyway, as I've kind of realised how much MAC seem to repackage old colours or give them different names.. but that is another point entirely. The only thing that really caught my eye was the In The Buff nail polish.

In The Buff, £8.99

It immediately caught my eye for being such an interesting colour - it's basically a light sandy colour, quite fitting for the collection. I was with my mum at the time and so I asked to swatch it on her nail (because she never paints her nails, and mine are nearly always coloured, haha), and I fell in love with it straight away. I think I loved it so much because she has a much dark skin tone that me, I'm naturally quite pale and my mum's very freckly, which makes her skin much dark. Anyway, it was this lovely, light creamy-beige on her. Next time I was in town, I tried it on my friend Debbie, who also has quite pale skin, and it looked really pretty on her, too, so I thought I would buy it.
I got it home and put it on
me and it just didn't look as nice? It definitely looked darker, and seemed to make my hands look super red, and fell more on the yellow side, on my skintone, as I think you can see a little bit in this picture;

As soon as my dad saw it, anyway, he went, "Oh, no, that is awful, what have you done to yourself?" Which made me laugh and kind of hit the nail on the head, haha. Anyway, I left it a couple of days and then decided to try it mixed with some plain white polish, in the hope to make it more like the colour it came out on my mum.. and this is what it came out like;

I 100% more preferred this. This was the light, sandy, beachy colour that I had wanted. I got there, eventually, haha. I think I might tip a bunch of white into the bottle to just try and lighten it a little bit, haha. As usual with MAC polishes, I really had no problems with the application, as some people apparently seem too. All their polishes go on very well and smoothly, and dry very quickly, which I like. The price tag is a bit much, but I don't mind for some of their colours.
Overall, I think if you have tanned or darker skin, this will look great as it is, on me
alone it gives me lobster-hands.

Pre-Birthday Spending

It's my birthday in a weeks time, so a few days k gone my mum took me shopping in town and I bought lots of new clothes and some shoes and things.. none of which I'm allowed until my birthday! Sigh, I hate waiting! Haha. But I bought a few things for myself..

Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter, Lush, £5.50
Seche Vite Top Coat, Sally's, £8.99
China Glaze Polish in Frostbite, Sally's, £5.99
Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File and Protective Case, Boots, £10

I definitely didn't mean for them to be all nail based, really, but that is how it turned out, I suppose. I have used all of these and so far I am in love! But I'm going to keep using them for a little bit longer before I do a full review on them. (:
And then I got myself this great shirt from H&M (one of my favourite shops!).

Flamingo Shirt, roughly £10, which I personally think is a bargain for a flamingo, haha, my mum thought it looked dead..
A few days after that my friend wanted/needed (the lines are blurry!) to buy some new shoes.. so as a good friend, I went with her..and got some shoes for myself.. (:

Grey Jersey Flats, Primark, £5
I really wanted some cute new flat for when I dash out to the shops or hanging about in the garden or with friends.. it's a proper bitch to find my size, let me tell you. I'm a size 9. So when I spotted this find for £5 in Primark, I definitely didn't hesitate.

Black Zip-Front Cage Courts, New Look, £22
These were actually £19-something with a student discount card, which is awesome! It's my birthday in seven days (eee!) and I'll be going out with a bunch of friends fro the night out, of course, and wanted some slightlyyy lower heels to wear out so my feet will last all night and not protest.. so I got these. Looking them up on New Look for you, I see that they do nude ones, which are pretty cute, too. Also in size 9! Check it out, big-footed girls.

In The Buff Nail Polish, MAC, £8.99

Cockatoo Necklace, Accessorize, £5
My mum thought this was bizarre, again, but she hates birds.. I love it, it's so cute!

I don't really want to get into the habit of doing haul posts, really, I'd rather do them as like, coming-soon-review posts, haha. That said, expect some reviews!

Forest, kelly, jade, mint, emerald, teal..

I am a green girl, not gonna lie. My car is green, I have a green phone.. generally, green is good in my book. Then I was trying to pick what colour to paint my nails the other day, and realised that nearly all my greens are from the high-street. As such, I thought I'd do a little post on some of my favourites, and ones that I think you should all buy!

Barry M Nail Paint in 290 Spring Green , £2.95
Another stunner from Barry M. I definitely love this colour. It's a nice, creamy, glossy green, on the pastel side, I suppose. In real life, I couldn't see any nail line, but apparently it showed in pictures. This was probably two or three coats, I'm not sure, but I love the consistency and finish of this one.

Barry M Nail Paint in 137 Lime Green , £2.95
This is a very wasabi-ish green, it's pretty awesome. However, it is crazy-sheer and stains pretty bad.. But, I will continue to wear it because it rocks. What you gonna do, hey? It took about 6 coats to get it like it is on my index nail, but although the coats go on very thin and quick, you can still see nail-line, really. I do love it, though.

Collection 2000 Hot Looks Fast Dry in 36 Ninja, £1.79 (I think? It's no more than £2!)
First off, I apologise for how sloppily I threw this on! I loveeeee this colour! It's a genuinely lovely, grass-green. Makes me feel very summery. I have to say, I have about 4 or 5 of these Hot Looks polishes and I adore them all! Well played, Collection 2000. I wish they were a tad larger though because I've gone through a bottle of another colour already, they're teeny, only 8ml. Goes on pretty smoothly, contrary to these pictures, and would probably by fine with one coat, but I used two.

Revlon Nail Enamel in Minted, £6.29
I love the colour of this polish, but I hate the formula and the price-tag! I bought this before the Barry M Ice-Cream Nail Paints were released because I was desperate for a pale, minty green. I was willing to pay the price for it, cause you do get almost 15ml, which is about the same as you get in a China Glaze/OPI. Unfortunately, every time I have used this, lots of tiny bubbles have appeared, on the surface! I hate it! I thought at first it might be that I shook it up by accident. No, I think I just have a bad bottle! Because I've seen other swatches of this and it looks fine.. Am I doing something wrong because I love the colour? I think I'll just buy the Barry M minty-green one, better formula!

There you go! A few different greens you might enjoy or want to check out. Hope you enjoyed this post! Some more nail swatches coming soon and some reviews.
